GearZap.com launches a way to improve the signal of your broadband dongle using signal boosting aerials.
One of the great thing about netbooks is how small and portable they are, now with broadband dongles being cheaper and more accessible, you can literally travel anywhere and have an internet connection. While 3G coverage is getting stronger with all networks, there will still be blackspots where it drops out, or you can only pick up a 2G signal. Thankfully, a couple of solutions are now available to try and get round these signal issues.
- Clip Aerial: This aerial is designed to be a portable solution that clips onto the screen on your laptop or sits on your desk. It is omni-directional, which means that it will pick up signals from all directions.
- High Gain 3G Directional Aerial: This is a much more powerful signal booster than the clip aerial and is ideal for people who have real problems with 3G reception. They are directional, which means that you will need to point this towards your network’s transmitter in order for it to improve the signal. The High Gain aerial when positioned correctly will make a significant difference to the signal you receive and can be wall mounted as a permanent fixture.
Both aerial’s can make a big difference to the signal you receive. simply clip on to the top of your laptop screen, and then either plug into, or wrap around your or and depending on the Dongle or Data Card that you’re using, the connection method will vary. Some will have an aerial connection that will plug straight into the dongle, and others will take a Universal “strap on” connection.

If you’re the proud new owner of a netbook, this list of the top netbook accessories will help you to make the most of it.
1. Netbook Cases and Bags
The best thing about netbooks is their portability, so the first thing you’ll want to get is a case or bag that protects and helps you carry your netbook. GearZap.com has the largest range of netbook cases and netbook bags on the internet, so everyone will find a case they like.

2. Notebook Mice
One of the biggest issues most people have with netbooks are their tiny trackpads. This can easily be solved with an ultra-portable mouse. Newer mice have wireless nano-dongles or bluetooth connectivity which are ideal for netbooks.

3. Netbook Extended Batteries
Many netbooks have very good battery life when compared with their big brother ‘the laptop’. However, if you find that your netbook runs out of juice before you do, extended batteries will significantly increase battery life. Mugen make very high quality batteries compatible with many netbooks.

4. Car Chargers
Why not charge your netbook en-route to your next destination. You could even try using your netbook as a GPS or SatNav by linking it to a bluetooth GPS reciever.

5. Screen Protectors
Protect your screen from unsightly scratches with an easy to apply screen protector. GearZap.com has a range of ultra-clear and anti-glare screen protectors for many netbooks.

6. External CD/DVD Drives
Netbook manufacturers typically forego CD/DVD drives in order to reduce their size and keep the price low. If you want to install software, watch movies or rip CD’s then you should buy an ultra-portable external CD/DVD drive. They can also be very useful when it comes to installing or re-installing Windows on your netbook.

7. Netbook Skins
Netbook Skins protect the top of your netbook lid from scratches, while the funky designs will set your netbook apart from the crowd. GearZap has a wide range of nice designs to suit all tastes.

The rumour mill has been rolling again, this time the Samsung are going to release an 11″ netbook.
The rumour has been fueled by the fact Samsung has recently placed orders for 11.6 inches screens from LCD panel maker Chunghwa Picture Tubes.
This netbook would sit between the 10″ NC10 and the 12″ NC20. So maybe it will be called NC15 – who knows.

The Archos 10s netbook was announced back in February but now we have a lot more information. It is only 2.2 cm thick and weighs 2.2 pounds!
It has a 10.2-inch screen, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU with 1 GB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive. The body is made from aluminum and magnesium to ensure it is light and easy to carry. No news yet on the price, but if it is reasonable we can see this being a big seller!
