Shuttle SD30G2 – My Hackintosh PC

Shuttle SD30G2 Barebone PC

After reading about all the fun of building your own Hackintosh, I’ve decided to join in and build my own Hackintosh too. My four year old Windows PC died recently, so, all the more reason for me to build a Hackintosh. A trip to the computer mall got me the following PC parts for my DIY Hackintosh project.

My Mac PC parts:
Casing: Shuttle SD30G2
CPU: Intel Core Duo E4600 2.4GHz
RAM: Kingston Value Ram 4GB (3.25GB recognized by motherboard)
Graphic Card: ASUS Nvidia 8500GT 256MB SILENT (Fanless)
HDD: Western Digital 500GB SATA
DVD-RW: Pioneer DVD-115 (taken from old PC)
Wifi: Linksys WUSB54G v4 USB Wireless Adapter (previously collecting dust on my shelf)
Monitor: Dell E228WFP 22 inch LCD monitor (2 year old unit)
Logitech Wireless Keyboard+Mouse (was using this with my old PC)

With lots of help from http://forum.insanelymac.com and http://wiki.osx86project.org, I managed to get my Hackintosh up and running smoothly after two evenings of tinkering.

Here’s the result:

    Hi,
    I have a SD30G2 Plus hack too…..had lots of problems with graphics card variants (7300LE and GT)- especially after upgrading to 10.5.3.. I am now looking for a card that doesn’t lose QE support when upgrading. Did you need to hack your 8500GT at all? What output is your power supply? I’d really like to hear your experiences on this.

    My SD30G2 with Nvidia 8500GT is running fine with QE on 10.5.3 or 10.5.4. No hacking required for the 8500GT. I am using NVkush.kext and NVCAP of <04000000 00000900 06000000 00000000 00000000> to enable DVI support.

    How did you get your Linksys WUSB54G v4 USB Wireless Adapter working on your Hackintosh? What driver did you install?

    Hi Nottle,

    I followed the instructions from the various contributors to this discussion thread – http://www.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/index.php/t18035.html. The driver used is the Ralink RT2500 Driver.

    I am using the same Shuttle to try and build using the DFE Boot-132 method. Can anyone point me to the Kexts for the integrated GMA 950 graphics and ethernet – particularly names of said files in the event I need to search for them and some details on how to install them. Thanks!
