Asus Eee PC 900 Review by Trusted ReviewsAsus has done a brilliant job of updating an already great product. The engineers have clearly listened to all the comments regarding the original Eee PC and attempted to put them right. The 1,024 wide screen makes the Eee PC 900 a joy to use, especially if you spend a lot of your time in a browser window. The extra memory and storage are also very welcome additions, and help make this version of the Eee PC a real alternative to a fully featured notebook.

CNET.co.uk Asus Eee PC 900 ReviewThe Eee PC 900 is a likeable update to the Eee PC 701. We’re disappointed its keyboard is still so difficult to use, but the addition of a larger, high-resolution screen, multi-touch mouse trackpad and better storage gives it the edge over just about all of its rivals.

Asus Eee PC 900 Review by bit-tech.net… if you haven’t got an Eee and you’re in the market then this is definitely the cream of the crop right now and if you’re looking for a new ‘netbook’ then we can’t recommend the Eee PC 900 enough.

The Ultra-Cool Mini-Note PC: The HP 2133 Reviews Part 2

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

LAPTOP: HP 2133 Mini-Note ReviewWhile it’s somewhat bigger and pricier than other mini-notebooks, the HP 2133 Mini-Note offers a few features that the others don’t, including an adult-size keyboard and a design more suited to business users. If all you need is a low-cost laptop that can run Windows, you may want to wait for the 9-inch version of the Eee PC. But if you require more from your mini-notebook and don’t mind paying for it, the HP 2133 Mini-Note delivers the goods.

PC Mag Review: HP 2133 Mini-Note PCAlthough the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC is not quite the ASUS Eee PC killer, it’s still a force to be reckoned with in the ultra-mobile space. It blows past the HTC Shift, the Fujitsu LifeBook U810, and the Samsung Q1 Ultra, with a superior design that’s both functional and alluring. Though performance could use a boost, the Mini-Note is perfectly capable of handling various workloads as long as you load the right operating system. This device’s most compelling aspect, however, is that you can actually go out and buy it for about $500. Until now, that was a price point only ASUS could pull off.

CNet Review: HP 2133 Mini-Note PC  – Despite an underpowered CPU, the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC offers the best balance of small size, comfort, and functionality we’ve seen in a mininotebook, making it fast a favorite for on-the-go use.

The Ultra-Cool Mini-Note PC: The HP 2133 Reviews Part 1

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

The HP Mini-Note PC, HP 2133 was officially released today and reviews of this sleek machine has appeared all over the Internet. The reviewers have mostly positive things to say about the HP’s latest ultraportable notebook.

Here are the reviews…

The gadgeteer: HP 2133 Mini-Note PCI’m extremely impressed with the HP 2133 Mini-Note laptop. So much so, that I don’t want to send it back tomorrow! The size is perfect, the display is great, the keyboard is wonderful and the price is nice. Sure, you can get yourself an ASUS EEE PC, for less money… But after you get your hands on the Mini-Note, the EEE PC feels and looks like a cheap toy. I actually purchased the EEE PC for myself thinking I would use it instead of my Macbook Pro for traveling. The small display and low resolution were absolute deal breakers for me though. I would take the Mini-Note on a trip with me in a heart beat. Well, I would if it were running something other than Vista ;o) If you have been shopping for an ultra-portable laptop, please do yourself a favor and take a look at this one before you buy anything else.

NotebookReview.com: HP 2133 Mini-Note ReviewThe HP 2133 Mini-Note is one of the most impressive subnotebooks we’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, the amazing design and solid range of features are diminished by a sub-par processor and a price tag that places this notebook dangerously close to far superior 12-inch notebooks such as the HP tx2000.

HP managed to create the single most impressive ultraportable notebook on the market … and then decided to put a lackluster processor inside.

Despite the poor processor performance, the HP 2133 Mini-Note is a remarkably solid machine that could be a perfect fit for students, teachers, or mobile business professionals. If HP decides to replace the VIA processors with the new Intel Atom processors or alternative processors from Intel, the Mini-Note would become the undisputed champion of the subnotebook market.

jkOnTheRun review- hands on with the HP Mini-Note UMPC – I think HP has a real winner on their hands with the Mini. I find it to be a capable notebook computer that is highly portable and the build quality is outstanding. I also find it impressive that the total price swing from entry level (with Linux) to fully loaded is only $250 and there is no question in my mind that the Mini is the best built UMPC at this price level. I wish HP had put an Intel processor instead of the Via but that is probably my long-time prejudice against the Via rather than any actual observed issue. I find it delightful that HP will allow consumers to configure a Mini exactly as desired on their online store which is unusual for such a low-cost device. I would have no problem recommending the Mini to anyone looking for a highly mobile notebook with few compromises.

Notebooks.com: HP 2133 Mini-Note: Videos, Specs, Photo GalleryThe HP 2133 Mini-Note is not the cheapest compact notebook you can buy, but it is the best value hands down. While other notebooks in this category look and feel like they should be sold at Toys R Us, the 2133 comes across as a serious business computer at a price that’s unbelievable.

Yes, the HP 2133 is more expensive than an Eee PC, but you get a true companion notebook that has a lot of features you won’t find on many notebooks that are triple the price.

The HP 2133 Mini-Note looks at home next to my MacBook Pro, which I may soon be leaving behind more often if I get a 2133 of my own. The HP 2133 Mini-Note is a great option for when you need a computer, but don’t want a computer to get in the way of the rest of your life.

HP 2133 Mini-Note PC Released

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Woohoo! HP has released the sexy HP 2133 Mini-Note PC and it definitely looks cooler than the Asus Eee PC, my current dream mini notebook. The HP 2133 comes with an anodized aluminum shell, scratch-resistant 8.9-inch WXGA display, magnesium hinge bracket, full QWERY keyboard, touchpad, integrated VGA webcam, wifi and optional bluetooth. It’s fabulously feature packed.

I see the HP 2133 as a very attractive alternative to the Asus Eee PC. The HP 2133 easily beats the Asus Eee PC in looks and features. One odd thing about the HP 2133 is the position of the touchpad buttons located on the left and right of the touchpad instead of at the bottom. That will take some getting used to.

For me, the HP 2133 has replaced the Asus Eee PC as my dream mini notebook.

Apple MacBook Pro and MacBook Design Changes

Apple Notebook History

AppleInsider has reported that the MacBook and MacBook Pro will see exciting changes in their next refresh. Details are still sketchy, with mention of aircraft-grade aluminum, stainless steel, casing with matte black portions, oversized trackpads, MacBook Air styled keyboard, “Montevina”-based processors, 1066MHz front-side bus, 2.26GHz to 2.8GHz clock speed. Wow! I’m waiting anxiously for more news about these new Macs. It’s about time for my G4 iBook to retire and time for me to start saving for a new MacBook.

Another Round of Good Things Said About The Asus Eee PC

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Here’s another collection of positive reviews for the Asus Eee PC.

you get a lot of computer for the money, and it’s also surprisingly chic—when I’ve pulled it out in public it’s drawn a crowd. Women, in particular, seem to like that it will easily fit in an ordinary-size purse. Is it perfect? No. But for $399 it’s pretty close. – http://www.popularmechanics.com/blogs/technology_news/4247009.html

Needless to say, I’m impressed by this little toy! Asus did an awesome job designing this new product. At a MRP of US$400, you get an ultra portable machine that is truly capable of running Win XP and other common tasks like playing multimedia, editing office documents, web browsing, torrenting etc. Plus the build quality is solid, it definitely does not feel like a cheap piece of plastic and credit to Asus for not stinging on materials despite the cost pressures. – http://www.techenclave.com/reviews-and-previews/eeeks-my-first-mini-review-asus-104643.html

The Asus Eee PC 4G is a unique notebook solution that I think will be more successful in the US than many people are giving it credit for. Even though it might not be completely embraced here as it was in Taiwan, the features of it make it stand out as a great mobile computing solution. The combination of incredibly fast boot times, low weight and size and even a small price at just $300-400 will bring more attention to this Asus notebook than any previous one. For people on the go that need a simple computing solution, the Asus Eee PC 4G might be the perfect fit. – http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=469&type=expert&pid=1

The Eee PC is certainly an interesting product, and is a very good product for just $400 USD. That said, its usability is somewhat limited by its small screen, small storage and Linux environment. Thankfully, Asus has already announced the next version will run Windows XP, have a larger display and a 12GB hard drive. Rumor is it’ll go for around $600 USD, but that is still a great price for what could easily be one of the best ultra-portable notebooks ever (for the money). As it stands now the Eee is good, but we can’t wait to see it get better with future updates. – http://reviews.digitaltrends.com/review4964_main24828.html
